Once upon a time,
... a temporal rift appeared. From this rift, an old time Medicine Show was transported into the 21st Century. Completely confused, it offered oddities from the Steampunk, Horror, Gothic and Fantasy genres to an astonished populace.
So, here we are -Curious Goods Curios - The Time Travelling Medicine Show - ready to offer you the strangest of all worlds!
We don't have hundreds of items because each piece listed is unique and handmade by us, or is selected for its uniqueness. Some of our handmade items are so intricately designed, it takes weeks to finish one piece. For the metal work, we don't use glue. If we can't solder, then we will use a metal bearing liquid solder for a permanent join. For leather items, waxed thread or lacing is used. As these items are a reflection on us and our skills, we believe old fashioned craftsmanship. We don't take short cuts; you will not find residue and sloppily made creations. We strive to create wearable art that may one day be an heirloom. Finally, to set our metal jewelry above the rest, we use semi-precious stones as embellishments.
About Catrena
I'm a mixed media artist living in the Triangle area of North Carolina. I love finding old discarded "junque", bits and bobs from here and there, old ephemera and making them into something new. As a collector of folktales, I also try to work some folklore into my projects or make an object with its own story.
About Stephanie
I'm a leather worker living in the Triangle area of North Carolina. I enjoy taking old concepts in different directions. A good leather article will last and age beautifully. I started at a young age by taking care of horse tack as well as learning to repair it. By the time I had graduated college I had made my first saddle. Today I concentrate on smaller, but no less unique, items with influences taken from my love of sci-fi and technology.
